I Don't Have It All Together
And that's where this starts.
I want to be honest with you right from the beginning: I am not writing this from the other side of something. I haven't arrived. I am not a minimalist who has it figured out. I am someone who is just starting to ask different questions and finding that the asking is hard enough on its own but necessary.
I'm a photographer. I care deeply about my clients and the experience they have working with me. I also care about my time, my energy, and the kind of business and life I'm actually building. I've started to notice that those two things don't always line up the way I thought they did.
There's a version of "client experience" that is really just people pleasing in a nice font. And there's a version of "being available" that is really just not having decided what you value yet. I've lived in both of those, and I'm done pretending they're the same as intentionality.
This blog is called The Quiet Studio. It lives alongside my newsletter, The Visibility Lab, but they're different rooms. The Visibility Lab is about showing up and being seen. This is about what happens before that…the making, the choosing, the letting go.
I don't know exactly where this goes. But I know I'm unlearning a lot, and I'd rather do that out loud than pretend I already know the answers. So this is where it starts.
